WHO,
WHAT, WHERE, WHEN.
NYJO (Norwegian Youth Jazz Orchestra) will have its first production 29th September - 2nd October 2026 in Bergen. This exciting initiative aims to brings together Norway´s brightest and most dedicated young stars from around the country to form an elite jazz orchestra for musicians aged 18 - 25.​​
Entry to NYJO is by competitive, anonymous audition and participation is free.
Successfull candidtates will travel to Bergen free of charge for 4 days of intense rehearsals and workshops together with Remy Le Boeuf culminating in a concert open for all jazz lovers!
The concert will be video recorded.

Background
As western Norway's leading-light for large ensemble jazz, we at Bergen Big Band (BBB) ​​have a burning commitment to inspiring, recruiting, and creating new arenas where young people can be included in our community, namely big band jazz!
Our hugely successful annual local big band course for young talents (up to 21 years) and our fresh collaboration with the Western Norwegian Jazz Center, Big Band Boom (for amateur musicians in Western Norway), Have shown us that there is high demand for a national youth jazz orchestra.

BBB will gather young people (up to 25) who are passionate about jazz from accross the country. The successfull applicants will travel to Bergen to form a brand new big band.
This collaboration will lead to strong musical bonds, future job opportunities, friends for life and not least a gigantic musical experience that everyone will remember for a lifetime.
